Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, is an island country lying in the India Ocean separated from peninsular India by the Palk Strait.
The Sri Lankan culture can be traced back to 6 century BC. It is known for its spices and aromatic tea. It has lush green landscapes and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The population is approximately 23 million people on a land mass of that is 268 miles long and 139 miles wide. Sri Lanka boast a 95 percent literacy rate.
